🟩 Part 1: Joining WhatsApp
If you don’t already have WhatsApp installed this is what you have to do.

iPhone Install
Android Install
Step 1. Download WhatsApp
- On Android: Open the Google Play Store, search for “WhatsApp Messenger,” and tap Install.
- On iPhone: Open the App Store, search for “WhatsApp Messenger,” and tap Get.
Step 2. Set Up Your Account
- Open WhatsApp after installation.
- Tap Agree and Continue to accept the terms.
- Enter your mobile phone number (with your country code).
- Tap Next, then Verify using the code WhatsApp sends via SMS.
- Enter your name (optional: add a profile photo).
- You’re now ready to use WhatsApp.
🟦 Part 2: Joining a WhatsApp Community
A Community in WhatsApp groups together related groups under one umbrella (e.g., “Cen-Tex Tin Lizzies” with sub-groups for “Membership,” “Marketplace,” “Tours,” etc.).
You can join only if you are invited or given a link.

Step 1. Get an Invite
- You’ll need either:
- An invitation link shared by the Community admin, or
- An admin can add you directly.
Step 2. Join via Link
- Tap the invitation link you received (it starts with
https://chat.whatsapp.com/...). - WhatsApp will open and show a preview of the Community.
- Tap Join Community.
You’ll automatically be added to the Announcements group (used for updates from admins).
From there, you can see and join sub-groups (like “Events,” “Volunteers,” etc.) if the admin has made them open to members.
✅ Tips
- Communities are available on recent WhatsApp versions, so make sure you’ve updated the app.
- You can leave a Community or sub-group anytime from the group info menu.
- To find your Communities, tap the Community icon (a group of people) at the top of your WhatsApp Chats tab.
